Lost Dating

Dating has been lost to the views of Hollywood. Dating isn’t about the physical attraction, but it is about how you like them as a person. Dating is nothing overly crazy and creative, it is clean fun for a purpose. Let’s take a deeper look.

The purpose of dating is to get to know someone well enough that you know you want to continue a relationship with them. You must know them enough to learn to love them and their characteristics and life patterns. The purpose of dating is finding out, even at the early stages if you could marry this individual. Sure, you probably think I am crazy to think this early about marriage while you are dating, but what else is dating for? Its not just to have fun, because we all know that there are times when you are sick out of your mind with first dates. Its not just to get some kissing and snuggling-that cannot make a relationship last.

It is not even for getting love because true love is loving and serving one another in marriage.

So if you look at dating as a way to eliminate those you don’t want to marry, it becomes so much easier and efficient. Once you figure out you don’t or can’t live with another person the rest of your life (or in some religions for eternity) you can stop dating them. The only problem with this plan is you end up cutting people off pretty fast from the list. The pros to this plan are simplicity and easy decisions.

If this standpoint of dating was used by all, we would have such different standards in life. Girls wouldn’t just try to look sexy but would really try to have a personality that was appealing. You won’t end up dating a ditzy supermodel because you don’t want her raising your children, but you will date a sweet girl from math class.

Relationships would last a lot longer too. It wouldn’t just take a year to decide that the honeymoon buzz had worn off and now you want to move out. Dating should be this way for the purpose of making you look at what you want in someone’s personality and them as an individual.

Looking at a person from an internal point of view first is really a solid thing to incorporate in your solid dating. If you like talking to them, hanging out, and going on creative dates with them as a friend, not just making out with them, then you can tell if a relationship can continue without the intimacy. Because eventually when you lose the looks, the talk and friendship is all that is left and hopefully, if we do it well, it will be plenty strong to support your continued relationship.

So all in all, Hollywood is not the standard, dating should be for the end goal of a good life long relationship and loving to talk is more important than loving to smooch.
